Curious about the convention? Here's excerpts from my
diary.
Sunday: We went to the consecration service at the Atlantic
Civic Auditorium. As before, I was impressed with the all
white dress code. After the service a group of us toured
Underground Atlanta.
Monday: Out of the myriad choice of classes, I attended
a Music Therapy class. I was so touched by the music that
I couldn't stop crying. After a quick lunch, I attended
the mass choir of 3000 voices. Absolutely loved the songs
and those strong tenor voices surrounding me.
Tuesday: I decided to skip the class and do my exercises.
Mass choir was wonderful again today. Then the Inner Light
Choir practiced our two songs for our performance later
but I felt we didn't do well.
Wednesday: Once again we had a fantastic mass choir rehearsal
and we made it through all twenty songs. Our (the Inner
Light Choir) performance tonight at the civic auditorium
turned out great and the audience responded well - God had
taken over.
Thursday: We reviewed all the songs for the mass choir.
Friday: We started taping the mass choir songs and then
grabbed a quick lunch. I was one of those selected to be
part of the subset of the mass choir to sing on the stage
that evening. How exciting!
A few of us stayed in Atlanta after the GMWA workshop to
tour the High Museum of Art with great 18th and 19th century
paintings, tour the Coca Cola Co., visit the Swan House
and tour CNN. Then to top off our trip to Atlanta on Sunday
we attended the Ebenezer Church where Dr. Martin Luther
King preached. It was an exciting week indeed. |
