The Inner Light Choir had a rummage sale on October 6, 2007. I want to personally thank all of those who generously gave of their time and donations to make this a succes. When the dust settled we were able to raise $400 and we had a wonderful time.

Rev. Yvonne Bazinet, Choir board Treasurer

One of the highlights of the day came about mid morning. We had a few customers and there were several cars parked on the street. It is illegal to park on Hollister in front of my house. Although we had seen a few police cars, we watched to make sure none of our customers were getting into trouble. Suddenly a tow truck showed up pulled forward then proceeded to back up right in front of someone's car. We all jumped up and began to go over to the tow truck driver who by now was getting out of his truck and looked like he was headed to the car he was parked in front of. The customer began running to his car and we were all waving our hands and shouting at the tow truck driver to just wait until the driver moved his car. The tow truck driver then put his hands in the air as though we were holding guns and said " I just want to shop at the garage sale - I didn't come to tow anyone away!". We all starting laughing with relief and he said we made his day.

The other highlight was Diane Pickett one of our new choir members. (see her photo on the right with doll in hand by the sign). She was not going to let anyone miss our sale. She stood out on the sidewalk waving a brightly colored doll to get everyone who was driving by's attention.

Then when they arrived she clearly pointed out that this was a benefit sale for the local gospel choir and they just had to buy something even if they did not need it just to help out. I actually heard one lady remark to her husband, "Honey we have to buy this book even if we don't want it because we have to help out." Diane also explained about the choir to everyone and when we meet to make sure everyone knew about us . You go Diane. (PS thanks for the pizza lunch too.)

Bill Marks

The last photo with Bill Marks shows how little was actually left over when the sale was done. Kudos to all who helped; Bill Marks, Mark Sapp, Peter Hernandez, Ginny Guillermo, Diane Scott, Nancy Mulholland-Sapp, Diane Doiron, Diane Kirkpatrick, Ann Lawler, Bob Swinney and Sherry Campbell.

A special thank you to Lupe Trithara - whose selling skills were unsurpassed throughout the day and Bernelle Williams for her excellent ability to make a bargain. Thanks again all. I really appreciated the help and it is such a great way to fellowship with choir members while do something so rewarding for the choir.
