If you were not at the Unity Church at 7:00 on 18 November
2006 you missed a Great Concert.
Mama Pat’s Inner Light Community Gospel Choir thrilled
their guests with an amazing variety of Gospel songs and
equally amazing variety of lead soloists, all in celebration
of 26 years of Touching Hearts and Lifting Spirits. Led
by Music Director Rev. Peter Hernandez the choir blessed
the audience with a selection of some of the choir’s
old favorites and several pieces of new music.
Special guests, Santa Barbara Treble Clef also led by
Rev. Peter Hernandez brought two numbers for the guests.
The Santa Barbara Treble Clef dazzled us with both their
mirrored costumes and their brilliant singing. They presented
Praise His Holy Name and a truly amazing arrangement of
I Believe.

Early in the program this reviewer was impressed with
the solos of Doug Barteld and Rev. Yvonne Bazinet with
their prayerful version of Bless Me (Prayer of Jabez).
This was followed by a stirring rendition of No Trouble
at the River with Bill Marks providing a powerful bass
solo lead.

Other highlights included one of the choir’s great
standbys My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord and I have a Savior
(Jesus is his Name) with a lead solo by Bess Murphy.
Rev. Yvonne Bazinet and Rev. Teri Cruz combined their
excellence voices for the very popular How Excellent is
Your Name. The most reverential, prayerful, and skillful
meditation of Oh Jesus followed this with amazing solos
by Debbie DeRoos, Rev. Yvonne Bazinet and Cat Weeks.
Bill Marks had the audience on it’s feet again with
his lead solo of the favorite Got Shoes. It is quite impossible
to listen to this arrangement by Dorothy (foot stomper)
Shell without clapping your hands and stomping your feet.
