Inner Light did a fantastic job on the two songs we sang in the concert....sounds like bragging, but we really did.

How to describe the workshop choir's performance? Well I was just amazed. I really had my doubts beforehand given the short time to learn and practice the songs, the wordiness of some of the songs, and the volume of the percussion during rehearsal. But all I can say is the concert was really something. The workshop choir sang with spirit, energy, strength, and confidence. I had gone onstage in a flutter of more nerves than I can ever remember in all the performances I've been in. In fact, all the Inner Light members who were together in the dressing room prior to the concert had expressed their concern over not being confident they knew the words. But, it all went beautifully in front of the audience.

As the workshop choir director, J'Rese Mitchell was a big presence on the stage in front of us, and he was really all over that stage, truly a commanding presence. There were hitches for J'Rese, for instance, a lead singer called in ill and had to be covered. I don't know for which song; there were three songs with lead singers. Linda Brown sang the lead in one, she was awesome. J'Rese sang the lead in another, and the lead singer in the song "We Stand as One" was great. He sang first in English, and then in Spanish, which was really neat.

I thought the concert was fantastic. J'Rese had a great song line up, and the delivery went well. I am so glad that I went to the workshop and concert. Great music!!
