What a wonderful way to spend a few days in Los
Angeles. The Inner light
Tenor section was well represented at the annual Heritage Music
Foundation
Fall Conference. We jumped right in learning several new hits-to-be
from
Rodney Teal on Wednesday afternoon. "It Is Good to Give
Thanks to the Lord"
was a punchy energetic song. Then we met Theola Booker who shared
her
version of "Blessed Assurance". We knew we were in
the right place. The week
continued with a time to share and learn from Margaret Doureux,
more mass
choir practice and concerts in the evening. We actually participated
in two
of the three evening concerts.
I say, put the first Thursday after the third
Wednesday in October 2007 on
YOUR calendar and join us next year.

We had the opportunity to sing on 9/21/06 for
The Heritage foundation. Inner Light sang two songs with the
The Heritage Mass Choir plus two songs alone. This was a huge
blessing for our choir. It is an experience that each choir
member could participate in and share his talent and to see
what it is like to be involved in such a great event. It was
so inspiring.

Attending the Heritage Music workshop made me
realize how much I missed attending the annual Gospel Music
Workshop of America. Yes, this workshop was really small in
comparison but that turned out to be an advantage because we
were able to socialize with the same small group. Our lunches
were even provided enabling us to socialize even more. Yet we
had the advantages of the larger group because of the very talented
attendees and instructors. That made learning new songs easy
and fun. What a blessing to be part of that group.
